Rolls Royce Project
As part of the second year of my surface pattern textiles degree I had the fabulous opportunity to undergo a live design brief with the bespoke interiors team from Rolls Royce. Choosing the theme of 'sensational depth' from the brief I curated together a design concept of 'universal ego' portrayed through immersive digital pattern, hand painted birch wood with dyes and cross dyed devore silk velvet. This response aims to encapsulate an immersive colour filled experience of both physically drawn and digitally created pattern. In society today we have many versions of our own presence, whether it be a spiritual self, physical self, or digital self. The collection aims to invite a sense of losing or enhancing these layers of the ego to identify with a mystic existence, to become immersed in a new dynamic realm of universal being. The process of making realises physical hand drawn motifs and transforms them in a cyber and light exposed realm, subsequently bringing them back into this physical world. The spirit of ecstasy will lead the way transcendently, developing an interaction, a communication into the mystical world across the planes of materiality. Fusing with the space and motions delivered by a Rolls Royce.
